LABEL PROFILE
Shelly Tindale recently graduated from the Central Institute of Technology in Western Australia. Shelly was invited to showcase her graduate collection at Varga Girl, Leederville, which gave her a very positive and rewarding insight into the world of being a designer and encouraged her to begin the development of 'Tindale', her signature collection.
She will debut her first collection "forgotten beauty" at this years STYLEAID event; having won the ‘STYLEAID Absolut Creative Award’ 2011.
Textiles influence the Tindale collection and like paint is to the artist, textiles are a medium that helps bring her design concepts to life. Allowing her to portray and enhance the emotions and feelings associated with the ideas behind the Tindale design concepts. The beauty of textiles is in the stimulation of the multi-sensory reactions (sight, feel, sounds) for the designer, the viewer and ultimately the wearer of the garment. The nature of these sensory reactions may be commonly shared by those who are involved or come in contact with the garment, as well as the prospect of being aesthetically significant and meaningful to an individual.
Shelly’s debut collection is inspired by the investigation of the architectural elements in old buildings and the depletion that neglect and ageing has on them. Once stunning and grand works of art, they have lost beauty and show signs of despair & ruin. Now the few ancient buildings that remain, are considered a treasure or rarity. This beauty found in the neglect is translated easily into the intricate detail of Shelley's work as a designer.
