LABEL PROFILE

Fast becoming one of Australia's leading designers, Kristy Lawrence is taking her brand Flannel, from strength to strength. What started as a labour of love with her sisters, has grown into an international success story that still remains true to its effortless, elegant and pared back style. Kristy has had a very busy 12 months, opening two new stores, travelling to Japan to work on a limited edition textile with the Banshu Project, and having supermodel Anja Rubic request her very own "Huntress" dress that she modeled in the VOGUE shoot "Season's Sexiest Dresses".

In 2007 Kristy began her "family" business and had immediate success with her first capsule collection that combined luxury, with casual in a neutral colour palette. Flannel’s summer collection was premiered at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week in 2009, where the positive reaction was instantaneous. Flannel stood out immediately, with its hand crafted focus and attention to fine detail, while drawing inspiration from the effortless beauty of the everyday woman. The Western Australian born label was catapulted into the spotlight after being awarded Fashion Week’s Rising Rock Star by an international panel of fashion designers and judges. This led to Flannel’s first exposure to the international market, namely the USA. Flannel is now stocked in prestigious stores worldwide.

Flannel, has opened four boutiques in Australia, with more planned to open later in 2011. Each concept store is unique and reflects Flannel’s chic bohemian personality and conjures a relaxed feeling of being at home. Flannel is about lifestyle, effortless elegance and organic luxury. Kristy achieves this by sourcing unique and luxurious fabrics and creating designs to compliment. Each season a collection is created that is luxe, versatile and edgy in an organic way.
