'from somewhere'
The Vallentine project has been busy! Concocting a shake up for summer 2008; purple, chartreuse, gold sequins, overripe mango, and off lime, are a smidgen of a pungent palette. Looking as jarring as they would taste, these hues are featured in fabrics you shouldn't mix, and shapes that ignore the profiles of the moment .

Styled in a loose layered look, 'from somewhere' can still manage to reveal more then it hides. Summer is loose and easy; reversible bi-keeni tops, oversized singlet dresses, patchie tanks, and drawstring shorts.

All make no pretence of tricky tailoring, with designer B.Vallentine focused on pushing and building original signature shapes. There is no replication of chic here. As the muse is teen flesh with a penchant for skate park glam and beach slum.

The passion is to produce trendless and provocative style that doesn't need a crutch of concept to exist. After all it all comes 'from somewhere'... and the verification is, that if it looks good [mad even], wear it.

Designer/s:
Bianca Vallentine

Launched (year):
2006

My Day Job is/was:
Administrator at FORM Contemporary Craft & Design

My very first completed design was:
A summer dress made from vintage parrot fabric.

The best advice I've ever been given:
Be confident and don't lose sight of the vision.

My greatest inspiration is:
The drama and excitement of life!

A word of power that best describes or encapsulate your design ethos:
Performative.

A single sentence that perfectly describes your collection for Spring/Summer 07-08 :
Striking, original quirk- that is not afraid to use colour.

Your understanding/interpretation of this year's theme of 'reflection':
'Reflection' is a time to consider all the elements that have been a success in the past and to use them in the creation of a cohesive range. Summer 2008 looks at the past and moves into the future! With wacky combinations of colour and textile combination (that could be reminiscent of a time when things were disco), The Vallentine Project seeks to provide you with the staples for this summer. Gone are the stiff edges and hard bulky shapes, now is a time for sexy layers in fabulous hues of lime, yellow and sparkle.
