Chauncey Chauncey Chauncey

The boys behind Chauncey are designers Mal Harry and David Jaskiewicz whom, it would seem, were partnered by fate.

Coming from graphic design, illustration and fashion backgrounds, both designers have a love of effortlessness and oddity. Their talents and interests have merged to focus on challenging conventional design beliefs and pushing boundaries. As a team they work organically and most decisions are made quickly and instinctively, without the concept being over-worked, resulting in clothing that is loud, fun and easy to wear.

Chauncey's philosophy revolves around dynamic design using high performance sport and luxury fabrics to produce versatile garments with a focus on tailoring. Chauncey makes get-up to dress your second self in.

Designer/s:
David Jaskiewicz & Mal Harry

Launched (year):
2006

My Day Job is/was:
The boy in the bookstore and the brickie's labourer.

My very first completed design was:
In sleep deprived delirium whilst cutting patterns for our first range, we concocted various head garments and loin cloths from scraps of t-shirting. These became mandatory uniforms for all involved throughout the production run.

The best advice I've ever been given:
A great way to find your way around is to allow yourself to get lost for a while.

My greatest inspiration is:
Performance

A word of power that best describes or encapsulate your design ethos:
Performance

A single sentence that perfectly describes your collection for Spring/Summer 07-08 :
Costumes that are just the ticket for a cheeky creature to sport when on the prowl for pleasure.

Your understanding/interpretation of this year's theme of 'reflection':
A chance to be trapped by what is and what has been.
A chance to be liberated by what is and what will come.
