Aurelio
costarella - botanica
“you need to let things that world ordinarily bore
you suddenly thrill you” andy warhole
Aurelio costarella delves into a garden of earthly and desirable
delights for spring summer 03/04. A tempting eden for another world.
A cross pollination of botanical images has inspired designer
ray costarella to create a range that speaks of growth, beauty and
the unexpected. It’s a warm environmental backlash to cold
industrial ideals. Like bees to honey or seedlings to the sun this
collection attracts and rewards.

A hyper palette of
colours and a variety of textural planes permeate the range. Garment
construction germinate from the botanical world. . . Leaf, pod,
seed, petal, stem and corolla. Silhouettes inspired by the undergrowth.
. . Tulip, arum lily and lotus
Core materials cultivated from natural elements . . . Raw tussah
silk, wooden beading, cotton voile, leather. A tactile landscape
leads you on a journey through the collection. Raw forms fuse with
sleek satins, foiled leathers intertwine with beading. Delicate
floral forms emerge amidst a raw thorny growth.

A rich foliage of
patterns and colours . A palette of chamomile, pale gold, pistachio,
lemongrass, saffron wine join a bouquet of ecru, stone, natural,
sand and metallic tones.
Aurelio costarella spring summer 03/04 speaks of nature but screams
of the future. Microscopic becomes macroscopic. |
