Are you ready for a return to the swinging 60's?

Curtin University in association with the WA AIDS Council presents STYLEAID once again, and we would like to invite you to attend the number one fashion fundraising event on the Perth social calendar.

The theme for this year's STYLEAID event has taken inspiration from the fashion and design revolution of the 1960’s. With reference to the mid 60’s Pop Art era, the classic 60’s paper dress, 60’s design icon, Mary Quant and The Dolly Bird the theme this year is GOGO!

THE STYLEAID Photographic Exhibition

To coincide with the theme for STYLEAID this year of “GOGO”, taking inspiration from the fashion and design revolution of the 60’s, the STYLEAID photographic exhibition returns, bigger and brighter than ever before.

A range of renowned Perth photographers were invited to submit entries based around the theme with specific focus on the word MOD.

MOD is a word synonymous with this decade being derived from MODERNIST, a term used in the 1950’s to describe a group of London-based stylish young men who listened to modern jazz.

This group were the precursors of the British youth subculture known as the MOD’s who dominated the 1960’s through music and fashion.

Using this prefix, MOD, this year’s inspiration for the STYLEAID photographic exhibition took the form of three specific words:

MODern

MODest

MODular

Each photographer who submitted photographs worked around these words to create one of a kind photograph’s that are on exhibition at the Lister Gallery from Tuesday May 12 for two weeks. These photographs are for sale and the following photographs are those selected to be included in this very important component of STYLEAID this year.

With support from Spice Digital Imaging and the Plastic Sandwich Company along with Lister Gallery this is a truly unique exhibition of some of the best photographers in Perth today that all come from a range of different backgrounds.

The STYLEAID GOGO Committee 2015

Each year STYLEAID is made possible by the work of a dedicated and hard working committee of community members who are leaders in design, lighting, staging, fashion and sponsorship.  They come together to work with the STYLEAID Event Manager to ensure that the evening is one to remember long after the lights on the runway have dimmed and the last guest has made their way home.

Volunteers are an integral part of this event and each year over 300 people ensure that STYLEAID maintains it reputation as the number one black tie fashion fundraising event here in Perth.
